My mother’s love was the greatest earthly love I’ve ever experienced. It was a reflection of God’s love for me. While she is no longer here physically, the love she poured into me remains, just as God’s love continues to sustain me.
She was a nurturing mother, sister, aunt, friend, and a truly hardworking woman. Born in rural Louisiana, she was “real,” as she liked to say—down to earth, wise, and full of heart. She was also known throughout our community for being a very talented seamstress. As her only child, she poured so much love, wisdom, and strength into my life. She sewed so I could sow.
After she passed away, I felt a deep calling to channel that love into something meaningful. Growing up in our small town, we don't always have access to the same opportunities and resources in bigger cities, and I want to be a part of that change.
While living in Atlanta, GA, I was inspired by the success and confidence of Black women I saw there, it opened my eyes to what was possible. And I couldn’t help but wonder: What if I had seen more of that growing up? I realized I might have dreamed even bigger. That realization planted a seed in me.
My goal with the foundation is to sow seeds of opportunity, kindness, and love, and to give the youth in my community exposure to things that I didn’t have access to growing up. Ultimately, this is my way of honoring the legacy of the woman who gave me everything, giving glory to God and making lasting impact - starting small, smart, and strong. It's also my way of paying it forward - to reflect the scholarships, encouragement, and support that others once poured into me. Now I get to give that back.
